See every supporter as one person.
The same person shows up in your CRM, your giving pages, your email tool, and your event lists, a little differently each time. Civis identity resolution links those records across systems, and catches the duplicates inside each one, so every person gets one ID your team can work from.
Disconnected records cost you money and goodwill.
Every system you add collects its own version of the same people. Over time those versions drift apart.
Nobody sees the whole relationship.
The gift officer sees giving. The organizer sees volunteer shifts. The email team sees opens. Each system holds part of the same person, and nothing connects them.
Your top givers look smaller than they are.
When gifts are split across records, lifetime giving is undercounted, and people who belong on your mid-level and upgrade lists never make it there.
The same donor gets the same appeal twice.
Two records mean two mailings, two texts, and one supporter who wonders whether you know who they are.
Every list pull starts with cleanup.
Someone spends an afternoon deduplicating spreadsheets before a send, then does it all again next time.
One profile for every person you work with.
Civis finds the records that belong to the same person across all your sources and builds a single, clean profile for each one.

One ID across every system
Each person gets a single Civis ID that links every record you hold about them, in every source.
- 2
The whole relationship
Because every record carries the same ID, you can join giving, events, email, and volunteer data in the Civis Platform and report it side by side.
- 3
The best contact info, by your rules
Tell Civis which source you trust most for email, phone, or address, or let the most common value win.
- 4
Addresses that stay current
Addresses are standardized to USPS formats and updated through the National Change of Address service when people move.
- 5
Optional demographic appends
Add consumer, household, and demographic information from Civis data for a fuller picture of each person.
What each team can do with it.
Upgrade lists built on true lifetime giving.
When every gift can be tied to one person, mid-level and major gift prospects stop hiding in split records. Build acquisition, retention, and upgrade audiences from the full picture.
Every member, with every touchpoint.
See renewals, event attendance, and volunteer activity side by side for each member, with reporting that works down to the chapter level.
Messages based on each person's history.
Remove duplicates before a send, then use each person's linked history to tailor email and text: the events they came to and the gifts they gave.
One supporter count everyone trusts.
Report donors, members, and supporters from a single source of truth, so every team is working from the same number.

Common questions
Is this just deduplication?
No. Civis finds duplicates inside a single system, and it also links the same person across different systems, like your CRM, giving platform, email tool, and event lists. Each person gets one Civis ID that ties all of those records together.
Will it total up giving and activity across systems?
Identity resolution does the linking: every source record gets the same Civis ID. Totals like lifetime giving come from joining your tables on that ID, which you can do in the Civis Platform. Our team can help set up those tables and reports.
Do we have to replace our CRM?
No. Your systems stay in place. Civis links the records they already hold and can send the unified data back to them.
How do you avoid merging two different people?
You control how strict matching is. A stricter setting means fewer incorrect matches, and a looser one catches more real ones. You can test different settings and review sample matches before you use the results.
We don't have a data team. Can we still do this?
Yes. Our professional services team can set up and run identity resolution for you, and train your staff if you want to take it over later.
How much data can it handle?
Civis regularly processes tens of millions of records in a few hours and scales to hundreds of millions as needed.
Can we add outside data to our profiles?
Yes. You can append consumer, household, and demographic information from Civis data, and keep addresses current with USPS standardization and National Change of Address updates.
