"Civis lets us spend more time answering the questions that matter for our mission without needing to manage infrastructure.” - Becky Elliott AVP, Integrated Data Services, Covenant House

Outcomes

  • A centralized data warehouse integrating EveryAction, GA4, and ad hoc spreadsheets
  • Custom dashboards to identify actionable trends in donor communications and high-value giving behavior
  • Automated data workflows, delivering necessary data to vendors and internal teams
  • Reduced time-to-insight for exploratory questions that previously went unanswered, via an AI Assistant

The Challenge

Covenant House International, a nonprofit serving young people facing homelessness, manages large volumes of marketing and supporter data across tools like EveryAction, GA4, and internal spreadsheets. But pulling this information together for reporting was highly manual, making it difficult to deliver timely, reliable insights or support broader organizational needs.

Becky Elliott, AVP of Integrated Data Services, is skilled in SQL and PowerBI but struggled with capacity bottlenecks. “Before getting set up in Civis Platform, I spent hours running the same queries because our backend data was only accessible through a read-only database. That really limited how many and what type of analyses we could take on,” Becky shared.

With only one full-time analytics team member, Covenant House needed a managed solution that would be ready on day one to centralize their data, automate workflows, support flexible reporting, and not require any expertise in infrastructure maintenance.

The Solution: A Flexible Data Warehouse and AI-Accelerated Workflows

Covenant House partnered with Civis Analytics to build a centralized data warehouse that brings together data from EveryAction, GA4, and various spreadsheets into a single, structured source of truth. That warehouse powers Power BI dashboards that are used across the organization to support both strategic and day-to-day needs.

Key improvements included:

  • Data Centralization. EveryAction supporter data, GA4 web analytics, and ad hoc reports are now available in one warehouse, simplifying access and improving reliability.
  • Automated Workflows & Report. Data is regularly cleaned, transformed, and delivered to both internal dashboards and external vendors, cutting down on manual processing.
  • Archiving. Covenant House was able to archive more than 5 million records from their live CRM while continuing to have those records accessible for analytics within Civis Platform. This will result in $2 million in cost savings across five years.
  • SQL AI Assistant. Civis’ AI tools help staff generate and iterate on SQL faster, especially for ad hoc analyses and exploratory questions.
  • Scalable Infrastructure Without the Overhead. Civis handles all cloud infrastructure, allowing Covenant House's team to focus on delivering value, not maintaining infrastructure.

With Civis, Covenant House created a reliable, centralized analytics foundation that empowers a lean team to deliver deeper insights, faster. Reports that once required stitching together multiple systems are now automated, interactive, and trustworthy. “With Civis, we not only automated some of those repetitive tasks,” Becky noted, “but we’re now able to answer questions and uncover insights that simply weren’t possible before.”

Covenant House’s analytics team now operates like a larger team, thanks to the power of automation, integration, and AI. With Civis, they’ve not only modernized their data systems, they’ve amplified their ability to support a mission that matters.
