A few weeks ago, I was canvassing in New Hampshire to knock on the doors of strangers and ask them to make a plan to vote.
See – I’m a data scientist, and I don’t know what you know about data scientists, but we’re not the most extroverted creatures.
That’s when I had the idea, “How much more effective would it be if volunteers could be matched with the voters they are most likely to make an impact with – their friends and families!” So we teamed up with Civic Innovation Works to build VoteWithMe, an app to connect you to people you already know.
VoteWithMe is an experiment in personalizing voter outreach among those in your network. It’s the first-ever peer-to-peer GOTV app and it’s powered by Civis data science, available today for download in the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
All you have to do is download the VoteWithMe app to bring the power of campaign targeting directly to your network and change how campaigns reach voters.
How does it work?
Using publicly available voter record data, Civis predicts the likelihood that contacts in your phone support progressive candidates and which contacts might not vote on election day. Next, we provide you your top 10 contacts that are most likely to be able to tip the scales for Democrats up and down the ballot on election day… if they vote.
